World Bank Official Visits Bangladesh, Pledges Assistance

The new World Bank vice president for South Asia, Isabel Guerrero is now visiting Bangladesh and met with Bangladesh finance adviser AB Mirza Azizul Islam. 

The World Bank has pledged assistance to Bangladesh in implementing the current fiscal budget.

This first phase assistance will be provided for the government's food security programs for the 2008-09 fiscal year.

Ms. Guerrero said to reporters that World Bank would continue its assistance in ensuring food security, as well as extending assistance in tackling the effects of climate change.
