Seven police officers are dead after a police convoy in northwest Colombia was ambushed on Tuesday.
Local media reported that members of the leftist guerrilla FARC rebel group attacked the police with bombs and gunfire along a highway.
In a social media post, Colombia's defense ministry vowed to "maintain and intensify" operations against armed groups and drug traffickers following the attack.
The government and the FARC are involved in peace talks after a 50-year internal armed conflict that has killed more than 200,000 people and displaced millions more.
