A bomb ripped through a packed bus in northwestern Pakistan Wednesday, killing at least 15 people and wounding at least 30 others.
The victims were mostly government employees, according to provincial officials in the city of Peshawar, the site of the deadly blast.
An initial police investigation concluded the explosive material was hidden under a seat in the bus and a timer device was used to detonate it.
Television footage showed the powerful blast destroyed the bus.
No one has claimed responsibility for the deadly bombing, but authorities suspect the Pakistani Taliban are behind the violence.
The insurgent group claimed responsibility for last week’s suicide bombing at a court compound in the town of Shabqadar, near Peshawar. That attack killed 17 people and wounded at least 36 others.
The Pakistani Taliban has been waging an insurgency against the state for more than a decade, killing tens of thousands of Pakistanis.
The bus bombing came a day after Pakistan army chief General Raheel Sharif ratified the death sentences of 13 men linked to the militant group who were convicted by military courts for their role in recent acts of terrorism around the country.
