The longtime television ad pitchman for Subway, the world's biggest fast-food chain, was sentenced to 15 years and eight months in prison for paying for sex with underage girls and distributing child pornography.
U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt sentenced Jared Fogle on Thursday in federal court in the central state of Indiana after he pleaded guilty to the charges.
Under his plea deal with prosecutors, Fogle, 38, will pay $100,000 in restitution to each of his 14 minor victims. He must also register as a sex offender and undergo treatment for sexual disorders.
Fogle agreed to a plea deal after authorities raided his suburban Indianapolis home in July.
Fogle was known in the United States as "the Subway guy" after he claimed that he lost 90 kilograms while he was a college student by eating at Subway restaurants.
The restaurant chain, with about 33,000 restaurants across the globe, subsequently hired him to appear in television ads touting his dramatic weight loss and the Subway menu.
Fogle went on his diet while a college student.
John Bradford, a forensic psychiatrist testifying at the sentencing hearing, said Fogle has "mild" pedophilia , hypersexuality and alcohol dependency. He said Fogle appears to have had a compulsive eating disorder and developed hypersexuality shortly after losing weight.
