A Florida teenager has been arrested and accused of pretending to be a doctor.
Malachi A. Love-Robinson, 18, went so far as to open medical offices, called New Birth New Life Medical Center & Urgent Care, and set up a website to attract potential customers, according to authorities.
“New Birth New Life Medical Center & Urgent Care's mission is to provide personalized, high-quality Holistic and Alternative Medical care on an as-needed or preventative basis,” read the clinic’s website.
Love-Robinson came to the attention of authorities last October, but an undercover law enforcement agent went to the clinic seeking medical treatment.
According to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, Love-Robinson performed a physical exam on the agent. He was subsequently arrested for practicing medicine without a license.
Love-Robinson posted biographical information about his experience, but did not list any schools attended or other credentials. According to NBC News, the Florida Department of Health has no records about Love-Robinson on its website.
According to the posted bio, “Dr. Love-Robinson utilizes physiological, psychological, and mechanical methods, such as air, water, light, heat, earth, phototherapy, food and herb therapy, psychotherapy, electrotherapy, physiotherapy, mechanotherapy, naturopathic corrections and manipulation, and natural methods or modalities, together with natural medicines, natural processed foods, and herbs and nature’s remedies.”
Two other people are listed as staff members, but it was not clear if they really existed.
NBC reported that calls to the number listed on the website were not immediately returned.
