3 Dead in Australia Floods

Australian police say three people are dead after torrential rains in recent days flooded several cities in northeastern Australia.

The bodies of two men were found Monday, one in the Queensland capital, Brisbane, and another further north at Gympie. The body of an elderly man was found earlier near the city of Bundaberg.

Helicopters were used to rescue 18 people from the roofs of their homes in Bundaberg, which recorded record floods. High water rescue operations are ongoing.

Queensland police said there was also flooding in the towns of Gladstone and Ipswich.

The heavy rain was brought in by the remnants of a tropical cyclone that hit the country last week, bringing severe weather including tornadoes.
