Four Islamic militants have been killed and five Pakistani soldiers hurt in two separate clashes along the country's northern border area near Afghanistan.

In the town of Tank in South Waziristan region, authorities say a suicide bomber Friday, rammed his explosives-packed Jeep into a military vehicle, killing himself and wounding three Pakistani soldiers.

In a separate pre-dawn incident in the Tiarza area of South Waziristan, militants attacked Pakistani security posts. Military officials say the clash resulted in the deaths of four militants but no government troops were hurt.

On Thursday, the Pakistani Army announced that 10 suspected militants were killed and a dozen more were wounded in another clash in South Waziristan. Two Pakistani soldiers also were killed in the incident.

There have been almost daily deadly clashes between government troops and militants in the Waziristan region near the Afghanistan border since last month.

That is when a 10-month peace deal with militants broke down after government troops stormed a radical mosque in the capital of Islamabad.
