WHO Cites Malaria Risk to World's Population The World Health Organization says that approximately 40 percent of the world's population is at risk of malaria, and that most victims are in the world's poorest countries. More than one million people die of malaria every year -- mostly infants, young children and pregnant women, and most of them are in sub-Saharan Africa. Host Linord Moudou discusses how the Kenyan government and the non-governmental organization, KeNAAM, are combating malaria in Kenya. From Kenya, to discuss malaria is Dr. Willis Akhwale of Kenya's Ministry of Health, and Gerald Mwangi Walterfang, CEO of the Kenya NGO Alliance Against Malaria (KeNAAM). |
