Heda Bayron joined VOA's Asia Pacific bureau in Hong Kong in 2000. She previously worked as a financial reporter covering the Asian capital markets.
She has reported on a variety of issues for VOA from trade to terrorism, infectious diseases to international relations. She has also been providing big-picture analysis on major economic and political policy shifts and trends in Asia.
Heda grew up in the southern Philippines, home to a long-running Muslim separatist insurgency, a subject she has since reported extensively on for VOA.
On top of her editorial duties, she is also responsible for the VOA internship program in Hong Kong, which helps prepare university students for careers in journalism. She earned an economics degree from the University of the Philippines and pursued an MA on Asia Pacific Studies from Leeds University in England. She lives in Hong Kong with her husband.
