The Taliban has claimed responsibility for a suicide bombing in Kabul on Monday that killed two people.
Afghan officials say a suicide bomber blew himself up at the Kabul City Center, which includes the Safi Landmark Hotel, popular with foreigners staying in the capital.
The explosion killed two security guards and wounded several other people. A spokesman for the Taliban, Zabiullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack in a text message sent to reporters.
A year ago, the same complex was damaged in an attack that killed at least 16 people.
Monday's explosion came a little more than two weeks after a suicide bomber attacked a supermarket frequented by foreigners in the Afghan capital, killing nine people. The Taliban also claimed responsibility for that attack.
In a separate development Britain says two of its soldiers died Monday in a fire at Camp Bastian, the main British base in Afghanistan, in Helmand province. Britain's Ministry of Defense says an investigation into the cause of the fire has begun.
And NATO reports that one of its service members was killed by an improvised explosive device Monday in southern Afghanistan. NATO has not released the name or the nationality of the service member.
