Exit polls from Romania's presidential run-off election show an even race between the two candidates.
Results from two exit polls carried out before voting ended Sunday showed a dead heat between Prime Minister Adrian Nastase and Mayor of Bucharest Traian Basescu.
Both men favor joining the European Union. Mr. Nastase's government is credited with making Romania's economy one of the fastest growing in Europe. But Mr. Basescu is considered more likely to push reforms required for Romania's anticipated 2007 entrance into the trading bloc.
