Vietnam says a six-year-old boy has died from bird flu.
A medical official in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap says tests confirmed that the boy, who died December 30, had the lethal H5N1 strain of bird flu.
The announcement comes one day after a nine-year-old boy from southern Tra Vinh province died of bird flu at a Ho Chi Minh City hospital. The facility is also treating a 16-year-old girl who tested positive for the H5N1 bird flu strain.
Bird flu has now killed 34 people in Vietnam and Thailand, and has led to the slaughter of millions of birds across Asia.
