Oscar-winning actress Teresa Wright has died. Ms. Wright died this week at a hospital in the northeastern state of Connecticut following a heart attack. She was 86.
Ms. Wright was nominated for an Academy Award three times - winning once. She received a supporting actress Oscar for 1942's wartime-homefront drama Mrs. Miniver.
Ms. Wright was a popular leading actress of the 1940s and 50s. Among her films are three classics: Alfred Hitchcock's Shadow of a Doubt in 1943, The Best Years of Our Lives in 1946 and Marlon Brando's first film, The Men, in 1950.
But her career stumbled because of her independent nature.
Legendary Hollywood producer Sam Goldwyn fired her in 1948 because she refused to publicize one of her films. She also refused to pose in suggestive photos.
