Officials from the World Health Organization say they fear Yemen could be facing a major polio epidemic, after confirming 83 cases of the disease.
Sixty-seven of the cases were found in a single province al-Hudaidah. Meanwhile, health officials are investigating another 411 suspected cases across the country.
A first round of vaccinations was completed last month, and officials say another round is planned.
Yemen is one of 16 previously polio-free countries that have reported new cases of the disease since 2003. The water-borne disease, which mostly strikes the young, attacks the nervous system and can cause paralysis and sometimes death.
