Lao Couple Beheaded in Southern Thailand

update

Thai police say a Lao couple has been found beheaded in southern Thailand, the latest victims of suspected Muslim separatist violence.

The bodies of the young migrant workers were found Saturday in Pattani province, one of the three Muslim-dominated southern provinces where more than 700 people have died in violence since January of 2004.

The couple left Laos about two months ago to work on a Thai chicken farm.

Muslim militants have carried out almost daily bombings, murders and arson in the provinces of Yala, Pattani and Narathiwat.

Southern Thai Muslims have complained for years of discrimination by the central government, particularly in jobs and education.
