Gunmen in Iraq have attacked a bus carrying Shi'ite Muslim pilgrims to shrines south of Baghdad, killing three and wounding several others.

Meanwhile, the U.S. military says 20 suspected insurgents have been captured south of Baghdad in Babil province. Separately, authorities say U.S. troops have unearthed more than 2,700 mortar rounds at an abandoned Iraqi army base near Kirkuk.
