Anna Nicole Smith Buried in the Bahamas

update

Former Playboy model Anna Nicole Smith has been laid to rest in the Bahamas following a three-week battle over her remains and amid ongoing legal disputes over her infant daughter, Dannielynn.

Smith's coffin was draped in pink sequined fabric Friday as it was carried into a Nassau church for her funeral. The coffin was transported to the church in a white hearse.

Smith was later buried in a grave next to that of her son, Daniel, who died in September, three days after Smith's daughter was born. Smith's remains were flown to the Bahamas Friday from Florida, where a judge upheld a ruling that favored a Bahamas burial.

Smith died February eighth after being discovered unconscious in her hotel room in Hollywood, Florida. The cause of death remains unknown, although Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, has told ABC television that drugs were likely to have contributed to her daughter's sudden death.

Smith was 26 years old in 1994 when she married 89-year-old oil billionaire J. Howard Marshall. His death set off a legal battle between Smith and Marshall's son, with the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that she could pursue part of her late husband's oil fortune.

Smith's death also has sparked a legal dispute over the paternity of her daughter, who stands to inherit millions of dollars depending on the outcome of the fight for the estate of the oil magnate.
