Former Lead Singer for Creed Rock Band Arrested for Assault

The former lead singer of the rock band Creed was arrested for assault on May 20.

Police in Boca Raton, Florida charged Scott Stapp with one count of domestic assault with intent to commit a felony.

A Palm Beach County Jail official said the 33-year-old Stapp was being held without bond. Sheriff's Office spokesman Paul Miller said no one was injured and no one was hospitalized. Miller declined to identify the victim, saying "We don't know exactly what occurred here."

Scott Stapp's manager did not immediately return an e-mail and phone call seeking comment. Stapp married former Miss New York Jaclyn Nesheiwat in February 2006. Stapp's former band Creed sold more than 25 million records in the United States before disbanding in 2004.

The following year, he released a solo album, "The Great Divide."
