Israeli forces killed three Palestinians and wounded several others Monday in operations against militants in the northern Gaza Strip.
In one incident, Israel's military says troops shot dead two armed Palestinians who were trying to place explosives near the border fence separating Gaza from Israel.
Earlier, an Israeli air strike killed a Hamas militant and wounded several other people in the northern town of Beit Hanoun. The Israeli military says the aircraft hit a group of militants who had just fired mortars into southern Israel.
