Germany's Martina Glagow has won the opening women's biathlon competition of the season in Kontiolahti Finland -- her 11th World Cup career victory.
Glagow shot clean in the 15 km individual event, and finished with a time of 46 minutes, 28.8 seconds.
Russia's Tatiana Moiseeva was second, 6.7 seconds back with German Simone Denkinger third (1:02.7 back). Moiseeva shot clean, but Denkinger missed two of the 20 targets. Defending overall World Cup champion Kati Wilhelm of Germany finished 21st with four missed targets.
In the men's 20 km competition, Oympic pursuit champion Vincent Defrasne of France won ahead of Norway's Halvard Hanevold and Maxim Tchudov of Russia.
Defranse's winning time was 51:25.2 seconds with no shooting misses. Hanevold was 23.6 seconds back with one miss. Tchoudov also had one miss and finished 30.2 seconds off the leader.
