3 Killed in Suicide Attack in Southern Afghanistan

update

Afghan police say a suicide bomber has killed two soldiers and a child in southern Afghanistan.

Provincial police chief Mohammad Hussein Andiwal says the bomber was on foot when he blew himself up near an Afghan military convoy Saturday in Marja district of Helmand province.

At least four other people were wounded in the blast.

Elsewhere in southern Afghanistan, provincial police chief Jalani Khan says four Afghan police officers were killed Saturday when a roadside bomb exploded in Zabul province.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for either of the blasts. Taliban militants have stepped up attacks on Afghan and foreign troops in recent months.

Some information for this report was provided by AFP and AP.
