A rights group said Saturday it has received reports that Burma's army is set to attack a refugee camp near the border with Thailand.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide said more than 1,200 villagers at the Ler Per Her camp just inside Burma's Karen State have fled across the border into Thailand to avoid possible fighting.
The group said more than 1,000 Burmese government troops and the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army - a pro-government militia - are approaching the area and plan to attack the camp Sunday. The organization did not reveal the source of the reports.
CSW said it has visited the camp many times, including once earlier this year. CSW says it received evidence from the camp's residents about the military government's policies, which the group says include forced labor, rape, torture, destruction of villages and the use of human minesweepers.
