MLB:Giles Leads Braves to Win Over Phillies

Marcus Giles hit a tiebreaking home run in the seventh inning to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies in Major League Baseball action Monday. It was the Braves' home opener for the season.

The St. Louis Cardinals played their first game in their new stadium, and got past the Milwaukee Brewers 6-4. Mark Mulder pitched eight strong innings and hit his first career home run to lead the Cardinals.

Houston got a run in the 12th inning to edge the Washington Nationals 5-4.

The Pittsburgh Pirates lost for the seventh time in eight games this season, falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers 8-3.

In the American League, Jim Thome and Joe Crede hit two-run homers to lead the Chicago White Sox past Detroit 5-3 in the Tigers' home opener.

Baltimore spoiled Tampa Bay's home debut as well. The Orioles defeated the Devil Rays 6-3 in front of just the fourth sellout crowd in the Rays' nine-year history.

And the Los Angeles Angels topped the Texas Rangers 5-2.
