The Ivory Coast has defeated Nigeria, 1-0, to reach the final of the African Cup of Nations football final in Egypt.
Playing in Alexandria Tuesday, Didier Drogba scored a 47th minute goal to put Ivory Coast in the championship game. Ivory Coast controlled the pace from the start and did most of the attacking, with Nigeria's Super Eagles sitting back and absorbing the pressure. Nigeria created some scoring chances in the first half as both sides played cautiously.
Nigeria pushed forward in the closing minutes, but was unable to break down a solid Ivorian defense. Ivory Coast will meet the winner of the other semifinal between Egypt and Senegal. That game will be played later Tuesday in Cairo.
