Bening, Bale and Toy Story 3 Win at Golden Globe Awards

Actress Annette Bening has won a Golden Globe Award for best actress in a comedy or musical for her role in the film, The Kids Are Alright.

The Golden Globe Awards are being presented in Los Angeles Sunday evening, hosted by British writer-director-actor Ricky Gervais. The awards are given out annually by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

Actor Christian Bale won the Golden Globe Award for best supporting actor in the movie,The Fighter.

Toy Story 3 won the best animated feature film award.In a Better World ,from Denmark won for best foreign language film.

Earlier, actor Robert De Niro won the Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.

The best original song from a motion picture went to You Haven't Seen the Last of Me , from Burlesque,. The best original score award was given to Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for The Social Network.

Best original screenplay for a motion picture went to writer Aaron Sorkin forThe Social Network.

Katey Sagal was named best actress in a TV drama for Sons of Anarchy. Steve Buscemi won best actor in a TV drama for Boardwalk Empire. That program also won best television dramatic series. Al Pacino won the award for best actor in a mini-series or film made for TV. Claire Danes won for best actress in a mini-series or film made for TV. ((end opt))

King's Speech heads into the awards ceremony as the most nominated movie, with seven overall, including best drama. But it faces stiff competition from The Social Network, the film about the founding of the social network Facebook that comes into the Golden Globes with six nominations.

Colin Firth is considered the likely winner for best dramatic actor for The King's Speech, in which he plays Queen Elizabeth II's father, George VI, who struggled to overcome a debilitating stammer.

The Golden Globe Awards come in the middle of film awards season, so the movie honors take center stage ahead of this year's race for the top movie awards, the Oscars. The Golden Globes traditionally have a strong track record as a forecast for what film will win the Oscar for best picture.
