Elon Musk has restored former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Twitter account.

Musk, Twitter’s controversial new owner, reinstated Trump’s account after 51% of those responding to a Twitter poll voted in favor of his return. More than 15 million Twitter users voted.

Twitter banned Trump’s account after a pro-Trump mob attacked the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, as Congress was in session to certify President Joe Biden's election victory.

It is not immediately clear, however, whether Trump intends to return to Twitter.

“I hear we’re getting a big vote to also go back on Twitter. I don’t see it because I don’t see any reason for it,” Trump said Saturday.

Since being kicked off Twitter, Trump has launched his own social media site, Truth Social.
