Railway officials in India say a train has hit and killed four laborers in Mumbai.

Authorities say the victims were killed Friday morning as they were walking along the tracks between the Kurla and Vidyavihar stations.

Rupali Ambure, deputy commissioner of railway police, said "All were returning home after finishing work at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus," a reference to Mumbai's main railway station.

Accidents are common on India's railroad network, one of the world's largest that carries more than 20 million people per day.
