An explosion has been reported near a police station close to Istanbul's Ataturk airport.

At least one person has been injured by what Dogan news agency has said was a car bomb. The injured person has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition, it added.

Turkey has been hit by a wave of attacks in the past year, carried out both by Islamic State and the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK.
