Washington's National Air and Space Museum was closed late Saturday after a large group of demonstrators tried to push past security guards and enter the building.

Smithsonian Institution officials say at least one demonstrator was pepper-sprayed when protesters, estimated between 100 to 200, attempted to enter the museum with large signs not allowed inside the museum. One person was arrested.

It is not immediately clear if the protesters are affiliated with the Occupy DC protest that sprung up last week in the city, an offshoot of the larger Occupy Wall Street movement that began in New York last month. The Occupy Wall Street movement has spread to several major U.S. cities, with demonstrators protesting a variety of issues, including corporate greed and economic equality.
