US-Cuba Relations to Normalize After 50 Years

The U.S. decision to normalize relations with Cuba after more than half a century is getting mixed reaction. Many agree with President Barack Obama that keeping Cubans at bay is an outdated approach that has failed to advance U.S. interests. Critics say normalizing relations with Cuba will endorse its authoritarian communist regime.
