Rain, Cold Add to Misery of Migrants On Balkan Route

Croatia re-opened its border with Serbia late Monday afternoon, allowing passage to about 3,000 migrants who had spent nearly two days in cold and rain. A large number of migrants have been stranded in Serbia after Hungary sealed its borders. Thousands of people, most of them from Syria, have been forced to take a longer route, through Slovenia, on their way to Germany and other western destinations. Zlatica Hoke reports U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called for compassion.
