Second US Delegation Travels to Pyongyang

A delegation of U.S. lawmakers has met with North Korean Foreign Minister Paek Nam Sun in Pyongyang at the start of a four-day visit.

North Korean state media announced the meeting, but did not provide any details.

Congressman Curt Weldon, a Republican from the northern U.S. state of Pennsylvania, is leading the six-member U.S. delegation which arrived in Pyongyang Tuesday. Mr. Weldon is a senoir member of the House Armed Services Committee. The delegation had said it planned to urge North Korea to return to six-party talks aimed at convincing Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear weapons program.

A separate delegation led by Democratic congressman Tom Lantos left North Korea Tuesday after also holding talks on the nuclear issue. This latest group will travel to South Korea for talks with high-ranking officials later this week.
