Sorenstam Leads After LPGA 2nd Round

World number one women's golfer Annika Sorenstam of Sweden has a two-stroke lead over Britain's Laura Davies after the second round of the LPGA Championship in (Havre de Grace,) Maryland.

Sorenstam fired a 5-under-par, 67 in the second round to go to nine-under-par, 135 for the tournament. Davies had a 2-under-par 70 in her second round and is 7-under-par 137 for two rounds.

American Natalie Gulbis shot a 1-under-par, 71 in the second round and is in third place at 6-under-par 138. A group of golfers is tied for fourth, four strokes off the pace at 5-under-par, 139.

Sorenstam is the two-time defending champion of this event and will need the victory to reach her 2005 goal of winning golf's Grand Slam. She won the first of the four major women's events at the Kraft Nabisco Championship in March.
