In Nigeria, a passenger bus has plunged into a river near the northern city of Kano, killing 56 people.
Local officials say only six people were rescued after the accident.
The bus was traveling from Lagos. A federal traffic official says there are indications the driver fell asleep after a lengthy journey during the night.
