Golf: Woods Wins Buick Open

World number-one golfer Tiger Woods of the United States has fired a fourth-straight round of 66 to win his 50th career PGA Tour title at the Buick Open in Grand Blanc, Michigan.

Woods completed the tournament Sunday with a season low total of 24-under par, 264, for a three-stroke victory over fellow American Jim Furyk. Woods made a career-high 28 birdies during the tournament to hold off Furyk, who closed with an 8-under-par, 64.

Joe Durant finished at 268 in third place, while his fellow Americans, Sean O'Hair, Vaughn Taylor and Scott Verplank were another shot back in a tie for fourth.

The 30-year-old Woods becomes the youngest of seven players to win 50 titles, beating the legendary Jack Nicklaus who reached the milestone in 1973 at the age of 33. Woods reached the mark in his 196th pro start, while Nicklaus did not reach it until his 262nd pro event.
