Snoop Dogg faces charges of felony drug and gun possession.
The rapper - real name Calvin Broadus - was scheduled to be arraigned April 11 in Pasadena, California. In a statement, prosecutors said he will be charged with gun transportation by a felon and sale or transportation of marijuana.
Police arrested him October 26 in the Burbank, California airport on suspicion of transportation of a controlled substance. Burbank police later discovered a gun at his home. If convicted, he faces up to four years in prison.
The 35-year-old rapper has had previous brushes with the law, including a 1990 conviction on cocaine possession charges. He was also charged with gun possession after a 1993 traffic stop. He pleaded guilty in exchange for three years' probation and a promise to make public service announcements against violence.
Snoop Dogg's manager, Constance Schwartz, said a written statement would appear on the subject April 11.
