Two Afghan policemen were killed and three others wounded in a roadside bomb attack in southern Kandahar province Tuesday.
A police official, Sahib Jan, says the blast blew up a police vehicle in the Spin Boldak district.
The bomb went off a day after officials said Taliban insurgents killed 11 Afghan police officers in the same province.
In other news, the International Federation of Journalists expressed concern over reports of a grenade attack on the home of Radio Faryad's journalist journalist Khadija Ahadi in Herat province last Friday.
An affiliated media rights organization in Afghanistan, the Afghan Independent Journalists' Association, reported this was the second attack targeting the journalist's home.
Also Tuesday, Canada's top military officer in charge of the 2,500-troop military mission in Afghanistan said he will resign in July.
General Rick Hillier, who has been Canada's chief of the defense staff since 2005, denied reports that the Conservative government of Prime Minister Stephen Harper had put pressure on him to leave.
Media reports say the resignation is to take effect on July 1.
