Bush to Meet Karzai, Other Leaders in Coming Weeks

U.S. President George Bush will meet with a number of world leaders in the coming weeks, including Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

The meeting with Mr. Karzai is set for September 26 at the White House and is expected to cover the international community's efforts to improve security, governance and reconstruction in Afghanistan.

Before that meeting, the White House says Mr. Bush will participate in the United Nations General Assembly in New York September 22 - 24.

While in New York, he will meet with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and host a meeting of Western Hemispheric countries that have signed free trade agreements with the United States.

The White House also says Mr. Bush will meet this month in Washington with Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Sabah (September 19), Lebanese President Michel Suleiman (September 25) and Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus (September 29). An October 13 meeting is scheduled with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
