New Michael Jackson Movie is Worldwide Hit

Michael Jackson's posthumous film "This Is It" made $7.4 million its first day in North American theaters. The movie opened on October 28 in 99 countries. First-day overseas box office sales totaled $12.7-million for a worldwide total of $20.1 million. "This Is It" will run for a limited two-week engagement. Jackson's album of the same name is expected to debut at Number One with an estimated 300,000 copies sold its first week of release.

Carrie Underwood Releases New Album

The third album by four-time Grammy winner Carrie Underwood will be released on November 3. Play On includes her current Top 5 hit "Cowboy Casanova." This year, Carrie became the first Country artist to achieve 10 Number One singles from her first two albums. Her albums Some Hearts and Carnival Ride have collectively sold 10 million copies.

U2 Performs Free Concert on Berlin Wall Anniversary

On November 5, Irish rock group U2 will perform a free concert to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. The band will play in front of Berlin's Brandenburg Gate during the MTV Europe Music Awards, which take place at Berlin's O2 World arena. The wall separating east from west came down on November 9, 1989.

Double CD Celebrates Bee Gees Golden Anniversary

Reprise Records will celebrate the Bee Gees' golden anniversary in music with the November 3 release of two compilations. Ultimate Bee Gees: The 50th Anniversary is a double-CD that will also be available as a deluxe edition packaged with a DVD of previously unreleased footage. The second anthology, Mythology, is a 4-CD box set that features one disc dedicated to each of the Gibb brothers - Maurice, Robin, Barry and Andy. Andy died in 1988 at age 30. Following Maurice's death in 2003, Barry and Robin announced they would no longer perform as the Bee Gees.

Reprise Records Issues New Frank Sinatra CD

Also on November 3, Reprise Records will issue the live Frank Sinatra 5-CD set Sinatra New York. The 71-track anthology spans 35 years, beginning with his surprise appearance with Tommy Dorsey and his band at Manhattan Center in 1955. Also included are previously unreleased performances from his concerts at the United Nations (1963), Carnegie Hall (1974 and 1984), Madison Square Garden (1974) and Radio City Music Hall (1990).

On November 7, the 6th Annual American Freedom Festival will take place in Fairfax, Virginia. Headlining the event are Montgomery Gentry, Lee Ann Womack and Phil Vassar. The festival will benefit the American Freedom Foundation, which honors veterans of America's armed forces and raises money and awareness for various veterans' organizations.

On November 5, the MTV Europe Movie Awards will take place in Berlin, Germany. Kings of Leon and Katy Perry lead the nominees with five mentions apiece. Katy Perry will host the show for the second year. Other major contenders include Beyonce, Eminem and Green Day.

On November 4, hip-hop singer Chris Brown will begin a 19-city tour in Houston, Texas. The trek wraps up on December 13 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Two days later, Brown's new album, "Graffiti," will be released. Its debut single, "I Can Transform Ya," remains at Number 16 for the second week on Billboard's R&B Hip-Hop chart.

19-year-old Taylor Swift has sold out the first 15 shows of her 2010 arena tour. The outing, which supports her multi-million-selling album "Fearless," begins on March 4 in Tampa, Florida. Kellie Pickler and Gloriana will open all North American dates.

Tickets to Garth Brooks' 20 confirmed Las Vegas concerts sold out within five hours. The weekend shows begin on December 11th at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas resort. Some tickets have shown up on various ticket broker web sites selling for more than $1,000. Resort owner Steve Wynn is sending messages to suspected scalpers telling them they are not licensed to re-sell the tickets. His company also contacted legitimate ticket holders to collect names of the buyers. Upon entry to the concerts, fans will have to provide a valid photo ID to prove they purchased the ticket at its face value price of $143.
