A U.S. congressman from Pennsylvania who was injured during a visit to Iraq says U.S. soldiers oppose a swift withdrawal from the country.
Republican Representative Tim Murphy says every soldier he met told him a prompt pullout would mean those wounded or killed in the fight would have done so in vain.
He and two Democratic congressmen - Ike Skelton of Missouri and Jim Marshall of Georgia - were on their way to the Baghdad airport Saturday when their van swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle.
After the van overturned, Mr. Murphy ended up with a cut over one eye and soreness in his neck, arms and back. Mr. Skelton is still undergoing treatment in Landstuhl, Germany, and is expected to return home this week.
