Bangladesh Hit by Major Power Outage

Bangladesh suffered a nationwide blackout Saturday after a transmission line failed, leaving homes and businesses in the impoverished country without electricity.

Officials from the state power company say the blackout appeared to stem from a glitch with a power line that brings electricity from India.

Authorities have been working to restore power to the densely populated country.

This was Bangladesh's worst electricity outage since 2007, when a powerful cyclone knocked out the national grid for several hours.
