Germany's chancellor and Britain's foreign secretary are conducting separate visits to Africa this week, the latest in a series of high-level meetings as European states look to expand their engagement on issues like trade, migration and security. As Henry Ridgwell reports, Britain's planned departure from the European Union is driving an effort to look beyond the EU, while countries, including China and the United States, are also expanding their investment across Africa.
