India Landslide Kills 17

India's National Disaster Response Force personnel use rafts to rescue flood-affected residents after heavy rains at Guwahati in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, June 27, 2014.

A mudslide in western India has killed 17 people in a village, and officials fear hundreds more may be missing.

Road damage and heavy rains have hindered rescue efforts by emergency teams in the Pune district of Maharashtra state, where a hill collapsed.

A man headed to see family in the remote town of Ambegaon found a disaster site.

"I had come to visit my relatives. I often come here. When I came I discovered that the entire village has been destroyed," said Ranadeep Gokhale.
