Two strong temblors shook central Italy Wednesday night, not far from the area struck by a deadly quake in August.
A 5.4-magnitude quake was followed about two hours later by a stronger 6-magnitude temblor that was centered near the town of Castelsantangelo sul Nera.
The earthquakes were felt in Rome, more than 150 kilometers to the south.
No deaths are reported but officials in several small towns say older buildings and churches that were damaged in the August quake collapsed. At least two people were injured in the town of Visso and power is out in much of the region.
The August 24 earthquake measured 6.2 and killed about 300 people.
