Colombian police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters in Bogota, Monday, May 10, during the second week of ongoing protests.

Meanwhile, Colombian protest leaders and President Ivan Duque, Monday, ended with little sign of progress on curbing the violent protest.

Protest leaders claim the government had not shown empathy for their cause, while the government emphasized the meeting was exploratory and is steel seeking an agreement with the demonstrators.

The protests began on April 28 over a now-cancelled tax plan and have caused more than 20 deaths, most of whom were protesters. (REUTERS)
