This week parts of Europe began easing some of the lockdown measures imposed to combat the coronavirus pandemic, with shops and schools reopening. The differing responses to the outbreak mean that some countries have successfully kept down infection and death rates and are able to reopen their economies – while others are still recording hundreds of deaths a day.
