A team of scientists studied a material called trinitite and discovered a new quasicrystal, a material that has an atomic structure similar to crystal and glass. The trinitite was created by the Trinity test, the first detonation of an atomic device in 1945. The researchers say their newly discovered quasicrystal contains information that may someday help curb nuclear proliferation.
