A court in India's financial capital, Mumbai, has convicted four men in the gang rape of a photojournalist on assignment in the city last year.

The court found the men guility Thursday of raping the 22-year-old woman last August.

The attack occurred at an abandoned mill where she had gone to take photos with a male colleague.

A fifth person accused in the rape is a teenager and is being tried separately in a juvenile court.

Violence against women has received increasing attention in India since December 2012, when a 23-year-old woman died after being gang raped on a moving bus in New Delhi.

The attack sparked huge protests across the country, leading the government to adopt tougher punishments for men who attack or harass women.

The men convicted Thursday could face up to life in prison. They are expected to be sentenced on Friday.
