Kerry Hoping to 'Accelerate' Nuclear Talks in Meeting with Zarif

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry reacts to the blustery weather on arrival in Munich, Germany, Jan. 10, 2015.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is set to meet Wednesday with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to evaluate the ongoing international negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

Kerry said Monday during a visit to India that he hopes the talks in Geneva will allow them to "accelerate the process to make greater progress."

Iran and a group that includes the U.S., Britain, China, France, Russia and Germany have been trying for more than a year to agree on a lasting deal to ease sanctions in return for Iran ensuring it is not trying to develop nuclear weapons. Iran has long insisted its program is peaceful.

Lower-level negotiations will resume Thursday.

The two sides have set a deadline to reach an agreement by July 1 after twice failing to resolve their differences and deciding to extend the talks.
