Despite Lebanon’s ongoing political and economic crisis, the country’s political class has clung to power in the face mass protests, economic meltdown, and the catastrophe of the Beirut port explosion. Elections scheduled for May of this year will see civil society candidates stand against them in what some young activists see as a final hope for the democratic process.
